Business Calls for Property Tax Deferral

St. John’s, NL - The St. John’s Board of Trade has requested that Mayor Breen and Council defer property tax, in order to give businesses and residents a chance to catch up and recover from the economic damage being created by COVID-19.

“We have been hearing countless requests from our membership which call for support from our local government.” – Said Andrew Wadden, Chair of the St. John’s Board of Trade. “Last week, I reached out to Mayor Breen on behalf of our organization to request support for our business community as well as residents in the form of a property tax deferral.”

“Our community is still recovering from the State of Emergency in January. We need all three levels of Government to help. A property tax deferral is one of the support pieces business can use.”
St. John’s City Council will meet tonight, March 23rd, 2020
